Job Description
The Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) provides care to the surgical patient under the direct supervision of the registered nurse and in collaboration with the surgical team. The CST performs primarily in the surgical scrub role preparing, selecting and maintaining equipment, instruments, and supplies. The CST possesses knowledge in the application of sterile and aseptic technique. The CST utilizes knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, surgical instrumentation and technology as member of the surgical team. The CST will float to a variety of surgical specialties, as necessary, to provide care to surgical patients.

Basic Qualifications:
MUST BE A CURRENT MAYO CLINIC SEIU HEALTHCARE UNION EMPLOYEE . Graduate of an accredited program of surgical technology under the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or current certification through National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).

Other Qualifications:
Adapts to unpredictable situations within the perioperative setting. Proven ability to communicate with a variety of people in a direct, empathetic, and articulate manner. Comprehensive understanding of surgical processes and procedures preferred. Two years successful surgical technologist experience in acute care, perioperative or surgical setting within the last five years preferred.

License or Certification:
Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) competency. CST Certification through NBSTSA required prior to start date.

Hours/Pay Period: 64
Schedule Details: Variable 8-hour shifts; Overtime and on-call as needed; 1 holiday per year at this time
Weekend Schedule: 1 of 18

Compensation Detail: Minimum rate is $18.66 based upon union contract.
