Job Description
The Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN is seeking a Midwifery Service Director to guide our growing practice.
The Midwifery Service Director serves as administrative supervisor for the midwifery practice, which includes coordinating the daily activities of the midwives, participating in educational programs and research, providing direct patient care, program development and evaluation and participating on various committees to help lead the activities of the department, division, midwifery practice and Family Birth Center. This individual provides comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic services to healthy women and newborns in the areas of antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum services in the inpatient and outpatient setting. The director and certified nurse-midwives participate in the care of women with health complications through collaboration with obstetricians-gynecologists and other medical specialists (staff, residents, fellows and students). The director will also serve as leader for the midwifery practice across the Mayo Clinic Health System.

The Division of Obstetrics within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is comprised of 15 physicians and 9 certified nurse-midwives who attend approximately 2400 births per year in our Family Birth Center. Midwives today partner collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of obstetricians, laborists, perinatologists, neonatologists, geneticists, and reproductive medicine and gynecology specialists to provide high quality care and meet the needs of our patients through innovative team care models both in the outpatient and inpatient setting.
The Division of Obstetrics doctors and certified nurse-midwives offer women compassionate, expert and personalized care before, during and after pregnancy. A newly remodeled Family Birth Center provides 11 rooms devoted to labor, delivery and recovery, and 3 dedicated obstetric operating rooms provide a private setting to treat women with a range of needs. A Level II Nursery, 24-hour in-house anesthesia and pediatric services are co-located in the Family Birth Center, with the Mayo Clinic Level III NICU a short transport away. j2wmay

Basic Qualifications:
Masters-prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and midwifery program approved by the American College of Nurse Midwives (ACNM). Body mobility, coordinated dexterity of hands, ears, and eyes; sensory acuity, and verbal ability are required.

Other Qualifications:
Preferred qualifications include: being an active member of the American College of Nurse Midwives (ACNM), minimum of 8 years of professional work experience, 3 of which need to be in a certified nurse-midwife role serving a diverse patient population. Management or leadership experience in midwifery or related field is strongly preferredActive involvement and leadership in professional nursing organizations is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will possess a commitment to clinical excellence, passion for serving women and families, excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational skills and attention to detail, ability to appropriately prioritize a variety of duties while under pressure, experience collaborating with multiple departments and disciplines and ability to follow research and changing guidelines in midwifery, OB/GYN, and healthcare.

License or Certification:
A current MN RN license, current ACNM certification as a CNM, BLS certification, and NRP certification required. CenteringPregnancy training and ultrasound certification for first and third trimester are required within one year of start date.

Compensation Detail: Salaried - Education, experience, and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. *The minimum salary every 2 weeks is approx $3,531.20, based on a full-time position.
