Duties and Responsibilities: Under the direct supervision of Project Manager, Project Coordinator for Shelter component will lead the project team in the field and coordinate between all field staff in order to successfully implement shelter components of the project on the ground:1. Lead, coordinate and manage all shelter related initiatives undertaken by the project in both districts. 2. Be actively involved in assessing the families for shelter grants with community mobilisiers and CDCs; 3. Remain responsible for coordinating activities related to planning, designing, implementation, supervision, monitoring and evaluation of shelter component. 4. Liaise and coordinate with relevant government institutions, NGOs, Municipality, MUD, CDCs, ADCs and local communities to obtain their full support and cooperation in implementation of the project. 5. Ensure that the shelter component construction will involve and develop the skills of the community encouraging livelihood opportunities; 6. Mobilize and motivate the selected families and ensure their timely contribution in order to complete their houses in time. 7. Explain both the concept and operational procedures of the project to beneficiaries and all other partners especially the Municipality, MUD and related stakeholders. 8. Ensure that all logistics operate smoothly and support the successful completion of the project. Also assist, coordinate (with local committee) and establish system for procurement of materials, quality check, stock management, distribution of materials, team mobilization, supervision and monitoring and so on. 9. Coordinate with field staff and visit partner CDCs on regular basis to ensure better understanding of local problems and effective supervision and monitoring of progress of activities on the ground. 10. Consult, coordinate and report to Project Manager on a regular basis. Prepare and submit monthly progress reports, project completion report and so on as required. 11. Support ADCs to keep proper record of all expenditures, prepare request funds and maintain other necessary records and submit the same to the Program Support Unit of UN-HABITAT Kabul office on monthly basis. Qualifications required:
University degree preferably in civil/structural engineering or Urban and Regional Planning, and appropriate housing/shelter project management experience to undertake the assignment sufficient knowledge and experience of working with local communities in planning, designing, costing and estimating infrastructure and services related projects at neighbourhood level. Computer Skills: Excellent computer skills including MS Office, Email and Internet with some knowledge of GIS is an asset, and preparing project presentation materials with PowerPoint.
Language: Fluency both in local languages and English. Excellent communication skills both in written and spoken English are required. |
