A growing Fire Safety specialist consultancy requires a number of Fire Risk Assessors to service their requirements, undertaking risk assessments in residential tower blocks and commercial buildings. The role will entail the survey of existing buildings, using specialist Fire Safety knowledge to inspect the safety of the building, assessing the performance of the building and its compliance with the Regulatory Reform Order 2005, and more recently BS9999. Applicants of a high calibre are invited. You must have a recognised and distinct knowledge of Fire Safety regulation, ideally within the role as Inspecting Officer within the past 5 years within Local Authority Fire Service. Applicants from the surrounding areas of Manchester who are currently part of the inspectorate are also invited. It is essential that you are either a full member of the Institute of Fire Engineers or a full member of the Institute of Fire Safety Managers. You will have completed a number of modules at the Fire Service College or equivalent Fire Service qualifications relating to technical Fire Safety. This does not include promotion exams. As a self-employed consultant you will be solely responsible for the technical level of output and report writing skills should be of a high standard. It is for this reason that applicants should attach a previous Fire Risk Assessment Report, or equivalent to demonstrate technical ability and standards of written English. These reports will not be used in any commercial way other than to demonstrate ability. You will be managed remotely, and be self-motivated to work to set deadlines, project by project. Applicants should be comfortable discussing projects they have worked on and be able to provide at least 2 references.
