PULSE are currently looking for an Infection Control Nurse Manager for one of the UK’s largest secondary care providers.

The post holder is accountable for the operational and clinical delivery of the infection control service across all of Secondary Care, by establishing and leading an effective infection control nursing team for the provider services.

The post holder will deputise for the Nursing Director in her role as Director of Infection Prevention and Control (DIPC)

The post holder will provide expert clinical advice and leadership for the infection control service to support the Director of Infection Prevention and Control (DIPC) and Director of Nursing to protect patients from the risk of acquiring Health Care Associated Infections (HCAI). The post holder will work across the whole of the Secondary Care Division and particularly with the Infection Control Teams at the seven hospitals, liaising with Microbiologists and the Hospital Nurse for Infection Control. This role requires the post holder to make clinical and operational judgements where professional and inter-organisational views differ or conflict.

The post holder will be required to assure the Nursing Director that the necessary actions are in place to meet the requirements of the Health Act 2006 and the Care Quality Commission Standards.

The post holder will have the authority to challenge inappropriate clinical hygiene practice, and will be responsible for the development and implementation of strategy, policies and plans for the infection prevention and control service, across the organisation. The post holder will be required to actively promote strategies to raise awareness of infection control and decontamination within the Division. The post holder will work closely with the Divisional Medical Director, Clinical Services Managers, Infection Control Nurses and Medical Directors in all the hospitals and with the Clinical Governance and teams.
