This Private Hospital has an outstanding opportunity for a Senior Paediatric Occupational Therapist to provide and develop the services for the hospital. They are seeking an enthusiastic occupational therapist to bring energy and ingenuity to the team and to work in a team based setting. You will be providing specialist neurological occupational therapy assessment, treatment and management to patients on the Children and Young People's Neurological Rehabilitation unit; and to support the Acute Children's Services as required. Feedback from the current team is extremely positive in terms of the way that you are treated and the way you contribute to the overall success of the service provided. This is a stand alone position.
Responsibilities:
* To carry out specialist assessment, treatment and management of patients with complex neurological presentations. Determining the child's developmental level and functional abilities and planning an occupational therapy treatment program to meet their physical, cognitive, perceptual, emotional, social and environmental needs.
* To manage a complex caseload within the rehabilitation unit using advanced clinical reasoning, critical thinking, reflection and analysis to support assessments.
* To use a patient-centred approach and current evidence base to assess, implement, evaluate and document Occupational Therapy interventions.
* To utilise highly specialist skills to work without direct supervision with children who vary widely in age, communication and language ability, functional ability, cultural and social background. To work with, educate and facilitate other staff in developing these skills.
* To take a lead role within the multidisciplinary team to case manage patient treatment and the rehabilitation process including discharge and referral to appropriate community based schools, health and social care agencies as appropriate.

Requirements:
* Registration with Health Professions Council and with British Association of Occupational Therapists
* Member of NANOT is desirable
* Evidence of extensive post-graduate education and experience in the field of neurology and neurosurgical rehabilitation
* Post-graduate mentorship qualification is desirable
* Evidence of post-graduate education and experience in neurological upper limb splinting and complex wheelchair seating assessment and equipment provision
* Evidence of education and experience in the facilitation of the upper limb during activity of daily living activities and experience in the assessment and treatment of patients with cognitive and perceptual difficulties
* An understanding of National Guidelines and their importance in clinical practice
* An understanding of local external services and their referral procedures is a distinct advantage
* AMPS desirable
