| Company Info: This hospital, internationally-renowned for excellence, is seeking a Senior Pharmacy Technician to join a professional team and provide patient-focused services. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated individual who thinks on their feet and who has good interpersonal skills as this position will involve working closely with the department lead clinical pharmacist to ensure that the dispensary services are well co-ordinated and the pharmacy stock is effectively controlled. This position would be ideally suited to a professional who is seeking an organisation within which to develop their career and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to provide input at meetings and will assist in shaping and developing policies and procedures, contributing to pharmacy practice development within the hospital. Responsibilities: * Overseeing the purchasing of all pharmaceuticals into the pharmacy department to ensure optimal stock management. * To train and assess new and existing pharmacy staff on the purchasing processes. * To ensure all processes related to managing an effective pharmacy perpetual stock control system are in place and adhered to. * To collaborate with appropriate department and hospital staff on the purchasing of IV Contrast Media and Medical Gases. * To be lead liaison with the purchasing department and other Pharmacy Purchasing staff ensuring that all purchasing decisions made at the Hospital are in line with purchasing contracts, guidelines, policies and procedures. * To actively attend and contribute to corporate purchasing meetings and provide timely feedback to the department. * To review and update the Hospital pharmacy department purchasing policies and procedures. * To liaise with the Accounts Payable department to ensure invoice queries are expediently and efficiently dealt with. * To ensure the procedures for recalled pharmaceutical products are followed. * To effectively undertake the ward top-up service ensuring that staff are trained and competency assessed. * To ensure the systems of practice and staff workflow patterns in the dispensary and on the wards are effective and efficient. * To liaise with the pharmacy manager on relevant matters relating to dispensary technical support issues within the pharmacy department. * To assist the pharmacy manager in ensuring there are systems in place to ensure technician staff are continually maintaining and developing their skills and competency. * To assist the pharmacy manager in the orientation, induction and training of new pharmacy staff. Requirements: * Qualified pharmacy technician (NVQ3, Btec or equiv) with relevant hospital experience. * Have completed a hospital pharmacy technician rotation including purchasing, top-up and dispensary services. * It is essential that the post-holder is computer literate as they will be trained to become the pharmacy department computer systems expert. |
