The successful candidate will be a confident sonographer who is capable of working independently and producing their own reports. The postholder will be responsible for service delivery in a wide range of clinical environments and to a wide range of patient presentations. The role will include working in areas such as theatre, inpatient areas, neonatal areas and intensive care units. In addition, the post holders' duties will include working in the main imaging department. Responsibilities: * Facilitate the day-to-day management of all sonographers and assess their clinical effectiveness and professional development in line with Department polices. * Maintain a high-quality, cost-effective imaging service with a particular emphasis on patient need. * Liaise with clinical users outside the department on clinically based ultrasound issues in the absence of or on behalf of the Imaging services manager. * Be responsible for the day-to-day running and examination consistency of the clinical ultrasound service area of the Imaging department. * Supervise and support other more junior staff working in the department. * Perform a range of diagnostic ultrasound procedures as required, managing patient priority as appropriate. * Advise Radiologists of the technical capabilities of the radiographic equipment and to suggest appropriate sequences/images where appropriate to better demonstrate a variety of anatomy and common pathologies. * To constantly monitor protocols and to modify these where necessary, ensuring that the highest quality diagnostic images are obtained at all times. * Contribute effectively to the delivery of an effective and responsive Radiology service. * Supervise, assist and train a range of qualified and assistant staff in both the delivery of the service and their individual development needs. Requirements: * Diploma of the College of Radiographers or BSc equivalent. * State Registration with the Health Professions Council (HPC), UK. * Possess a Postgraduate Certificate in Ultrasound.
