| Job Reference: VP66124T Facilities Design and Engineering is an exciting and fast-growing team in Defence. What sets us apart is the scale and complexity of the projects we work on for the MoD and their suppliers. Our 70 strong team work on over 100 defence related projects worth GBP 30m a year. For example, the large facilities we`re designing for AWE at a total spend of GBP 1bn involve a multidisciplinary design team of 175 engineers. We also work on complex engineering equipment projects, like the rigs we`re currently designing for Rolls Royce which will be used to test the propulsion components for the next generation of nuclear submarines. So, although we`re a relatively small group, Facilities Design and Engineering accounts for around half of the total turnover in the Defence business and our work with both new and existing clients is set to increase. About this Role Our Defence division needs a senior civil engineer with a background in infrastructure design to join the team currently engaged in the design of multi-million pound state-of-the-art facilities to support the development of the UK defence programme. As a senior civil engineer, you may be responsible for, or at least involved in some way, with some or all of the following civil engineering elements of multi-disciplinary projects: Client, stakeholder and internal senior management engagement Project definition Preparation of conceptual and scheme designs Preparation of technical specifications Production and checking of detailed design deliverables and engineering drawings Due to the nature of the role, occasional work at client site locations and some inter-office travel may be necessary. Technical Knowledge As a senior civil engineer, you will most likely have strong experience in one or more of the following areas, supplemented by a general understanding of, or some experience in, some of the others: Design of access roads and highways Design and installation of utility services, e.g., water, power and drainage, etc incl. sustainable urban drainage systems Knowledge and application of relevant technical standards and specifications, e.g. DMRB for highways, CESWI for water and drainage, etc Working knowledge of the CDM Regulations 2007 and its application to you as a designer, and to the other duty holders Project management skills (planning, implementing and |
