| Job Reference: VP66122T Mechanical Engineer (Nuclear) - North West Salary:- GBP DOE Our client is providing services to a number of major programmes across the clean-up and decommissioning, generation and defence sectors within the nuclear industry. Our Nuclear Decommissioning office based in West Cumbria is a buoyant and growing part of our business. Based at the Westlakes, the office specialises in nuclear decommissioning design projects - so they are engaged in long-term projects that offer stability and job security. They have career opportunities for mechanical engineers at various levels of experience in the production of engineering/technical deliverables on small to medium sized multidiscipline design projects. Experience in the nuclear industry would be preferable, but is not essential. You will be required to work on technical projects within a team of up to ten engineers involved in mechanical engineering and related disciplines. Duties and Responsibilities Mechanical Engineers will be responsible for the following: o Project definition o Preparation of conceptual and scheme designs o Preparation of technical specifications o Liaison with senior managers to ensure technical deliverables are delivered on time and to client requirements o Production and checking of the detailed design deliverables and engineering drawings. o The nature of the role will also require occasional work at client sites. o Honours Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline o Chartered MIMechE for more senior positions, or working towards Chartership o Recognised training of software packages i.e. AutoCAD, FE analysis software an advantage together with familiarity with the Microsoft suite of products. o Project engineering experience including design, project management and some site supervision an advantage o You will be driven to meet targets, and have a high level of commercial awareness o Knowledge of remote handling systems preferable but not essential o Knowledge of mechanical building services including pressure vessels an advantage o Essential o Due to the nature of work undertaken at our clients' site offices, candidates will need to meet certain residency criteria in order to attain a minimum level of UK security clearance and should therefore be willing to undergo a security vetting process -br/ |
