| Job Reference: VP66123T Safety Case Authors/Engineers - East Midlands or West Scotland Contract or Perm - GBP DOE Our client wish to recruit Safety Case Authors/Engineers to join their Safety Support Team, based at in their offices in the Midlands or Scotland. The team undertakes work for a key client in the defence sector. To be considered for this position, candidates must have the following essential attributes o Degree qualified or Chartered status (or equivalent) in a Scientific/Engineering Discipline o At least 5 years experience of authorship or contribution to Nuclear Safety Cases which enable the construction of or operation and maintenance of nuclear plant or facilities handling nuclear materials. Candidates offering civil nuclear experience or defence related nuclear experience in any of the main engineering or scientific disciplines will be of interest. The candidate must be able to demonstrate a good understanding of any or a combination of the following: - Hazard identification - Fault Tree Analysis - Derivation of Safety Functional Requirements - Probabalistic and Deterministic Analysis - Thermal performance - Structural integrity and how these are integrated into the arguments developed as the safety case. It is expected that successful candidates will have completed safety case author/verifier training and be able to demonstrate that this has been used in support of significant modifications to nuclear plant. Special note will be taken of experience in naval nuclear propulsion systems, and submarine berthing facilities. Appointments on Contract or Staff Grades are available although preference will be given to candidates seeking a staff position. For a staff position, the salary will be commensurate with skills/experience and benefits offered include life insurance (4 x annual salary), private medical cover through BUPA, private dental cover, company contribution into either a company scheme or a scheme of your choice, flexible working hours, 23 days annual leave, and critical illness cover.
