Key Result Areas:

* Carry out operational and maintenance work on transmitters, receivers and associated control equipment as part of the engineering team;

* Support the engineering team in all operational and technical matters;

* Maintain technical and administrative records and provide information as required;

* An adequate knowledge of and compliance with the Health and Safety policy and regulations consistent with their responsibilities

* Promoting safe conduct at work

* Ensuring safe working practices are applied in accordance with VT Safety instructions.

* Set a personal example in the use of tools and equipment in wearing protective clothing and equipment

* Report incidents or hazards which have led or may lead to injury

* Carry out lone working, on call and key holder duties at appropriate sites, in accordance with VT Health and Safety instructions. Demonstrate flexibility by multi-skilling in other departments as necessary

* In the absence of the Station Manager, manage day-to-day operational and maintenance work of the site staff, and be responsible for site safety and security

* To be the site contact for the Master Record Index

* Provide support to the Station Manager with managing site projects including contractors and H&S documentation

Undertake minor engineering projects

* Essential Qualifications/Experience

* Qualified to BTEC National Diploma in Engineering (Electronic or equivalent)

* Basic record of proven ability in related work. Strong and positive attitude.

* Ability to demonstrate competence in operational and maintenance duties

* Ability to work to demanding timescales Demonstrate competence in solving technical issues and aware of future technical developments;

* Possession of full driving licence;

* Willingness to travel to the UK and other Overseas sites to support other sites as required.

* A good knowledge of data communications and networking technologies

* Experience of work with high power transmitters as required by specific sites

* Competent in the use of Office Application software

* Become HV Authorised for site if required

Desirable qualifications / experience

* Experience of work in HF communications and Telecommunications
