BVT have a vacancy at their Shipbuilding facility in Portsmouth for Naval Communications engineer working as a member of the Combat Systems team. Reporting to the Future Engineering Combat Systems Manager you will be responsible Communication System elements of ship bids, concept design and R & T.

Understanding the abilities and nature of current COTS Naval Communications equipment and also to be able to develop the communications systems from a high level conceptual design, under stand the physical integration requirements and EMC/EMI effects are essential to this role.

Main Duties and Responsibilities Include:

âx0080;¢ To analyse customer requirements and either develop from scratch or select appropriate âx0080;x009C;off the shelfâx0080;x009D; combat/communication System Solutions.

âx0080;¢ To produce high standard documentation including Material Technical Specifications, Bid submissions, presentation material and technical reports.

âx0080;¢ To perform analysis and studies relating to combat/communication system performance, topside electromagnetic environment, safety and installation.

âx0080;¢ To support other engineering disciplines, commercial and business development.

âx0080;¢ To monitor and record the collection of serial numbers for weapons equipment.

Role Requirements:

âx0080;¢ Extensive experience of the design, integration and analysis of Naval Combat and/or internal and external Naval Communication Systems (knowledge of navigation systems is desirable)

âx0080;¢ Current knowledge of latest Combat and/or Communication Systems equipment/systems technology

âx0080;¢ Knowledge of warship platform integration

âx0080;¢ Good experience of working within the defence industry with emphasis on either Naval combat or communications systems.

The Successful Candidate will:

âx0080;¢ Support minor bids/R & T as sole combat and/or communications systems engineer to the satisfaction of the BD Bid manager

âx0080;¢ Act as a member of a larger combat/communication systems bid/R & T team with responsibility for key deliverables as identified by the team leader.

âx0080;¢ Provide Combat and/or Communication Systems Expertise to other shipbuilding trades and departments as required.

âx0080;¢ Represent the Combat Systems Manager on related issues in his absence as directed.
