Senior Mechanical Design Engineer - Naval Power Systems

Description : Senior Mechanical Design Engineer - Naval Power Systems Due to on-going demand and growth in business, we are looking to recruit additional Senior Mechanical Design Engineers to join our Power Business Unit. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the successful applicants will perform a wide range of engineering work throughout the project life cycle. You must have experience of working on the mechanical aspects of marine / naval power systems. Key requirements will include: Delivering optimum mechanical engineering solutions from bid to delivery Taking responsibility for overall product design or for a sub-module in a larger project Planning and conducting own development and engineering tasks to meet agreed project objectives Working closely with other senior team-members, co-ordination of the overall mechanical design Candidate requirements: An honours degree in mechanical engineering An enthusiastic and hands-on approach to design and development Relevant experience in the design of mechanical assemblies and electrical equipment Good working knowledge of the successful application of 3D mechanical design tools in a Naval marine environment would be a significant advantage Hands on design experience using Solidworks and Pro/Engineer FEA and CFD experience would be an advantage Working knowledge of safety and environmental legislation is essential
