BASIC FUNCTION:
1. Responsible for the test and control of in-coming and in-process raw materials in accordance with established quantity and technical specifications to insure optimum results. 2. Acquires continuous knowledge of slip, glaze, mold and kiln technology. 3. Monitors and analyzes all the technical phases of the manufacturing process to insure optimum results. 4. Solves technical related production problems causing respray and cull. 5. Develops and recommends manufacturing glaze improvements and development for new glazes and products. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Continuously monitors and analyzes the production, testing and adjustment of glaze in process as compared to established quantity standards and technical specifications. Directs corrective changes within the scope of one's authority or recommends such modifications or changes as one believes necessary and reasonable to maintain optimum results and to develop new glaze applications. 2. Performs assigned projects that deal with glaze designed to result in recommendations to reduce costs, improve production results and/or increases production. 3. Continuously monitors reports on ware losses and production and recommends modifications or changes to maintain optimum efficiency. 4. Responsible for preparing and maintaining a technical manual defining the procedures for testing in-process and in-coming raw materials and other control tests performed by the laboratory. 5. Prepares and submits reports on assigned projects. 6. Investigates properties of new materials, including developing production resting programs for these materials. 7. Serves as the Brownwood Plant Coordinator with the Division Coordinator for new products, modifications and new colors. Identifies and analyzes manufacturing defect problems and recommends ware modifications for corrective action. 8. Maintains operating records |
