Electrical Design Engineer - Automotive - Cumbria

Description : ELECTRICAL DESIGN ENGINEER Salary – commensurate with experience A vacancy exists within a Design Department for a suitably experienced vehicle design engineer meeting the following requirements: • Electrical design engineer, degree/HND qualified in an appropriate electrical/electronic engineering field with experience in a design/production environment, professional status preferred. • To design automotive and other electrical control systems for any type of vehicle. • Key skills: specification writing; decision making; communications; design for function; design for manufacture. • Able to progress with a design from initial customer specification through concept design (integration of equipments, power budgets, block diagrams, etc) detailed design (circuit diagrams, product trials, component selection, etc), to full production drawings (harness drawings, control box assemblies, B.o.M. generation, etc), internal design reviews, customer liaisons, commissioning and customer acceptance. • You will be familiar with the workings of PLCs including programming using ladder logic for new designs, upgrades and fault finding. Experience with IMO and Omron PLCs would be an advantage. • Computer literate (MS Office) and have experience of electrical design CAD, Visio, E3 Series or SolidWorks preferred, but not essential. Full training to be provided. • Experience of current design practice of automotive systems and testing is desirable. • Experience of 110V & 240V electrical design and installation, certified to the latest BS wiring regulations, i.e. BS7671:2001 IEE wiring regulations would be an advantage. • Confident customer and supplier liaison abilities. • Must be able to work within a team or individually, to demanding timescales. This position would suit a fully trained graduate seeking more varied experience or a more experienced engineer looking for a new challenge.
