| An excellent opportunity to work with a leading defence client in Scotland. Candidates must have experience of designing lasers and be able to gain security clearance before starting. An opportunity has arisen for experienced laser engineers to join our laser engineering team to conduct specialist laser engineering activities in support of development and production projects and ensure the timely delivery of high quality military laser products. Key responsibilities are - Selection of appropriate technical solutions with detailed justifications. - Modelling key laser processes using commercial and in-house tools. - Problem solving to support product development and production - Conduct engineering investigations. - Creation and review of detailed optical drawings, product and test specifications, subcontracts. - Management of work packages - Delivery of engineering work products into integrated project teams The job requires an advanced understanding of laser physics, a broad understanding of solid state laser technology and an appreciation of the mechanical, electrical and thermal engineering aspects of laser design. In addition strong problem solving and decision making skills are essential. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in laser product development and/or applied research in a relevant field, with demonstrable experience in completing a laser design. Experience in a laser production environment is desirable..
