They are looking to recruit an outstanding Production Engineering Manager to lead the next phase of engineering & manufacturing strategy. Your brief will be to build on the company’s strategy for improved quality, product cost, productivity & flexibility by managing the production engineering department, assisting the business in its continued drive for growth by becoming the industry’s quality supplier of choice. You will manage the company’s production engineering resources in each of its three streams: Product Engineering: Introduction of new & revised existing products into production using up to date DFM techniques. Process Engineering: Detailed process analysis to identify waste & lean both direct & indirect activities associated with production & to carry out studies to build product routing & time standards. Forward Engineering: To identify how product is to be manufactured in terms of capital equipment, automation, updated control systems & factory layout, reducing cost & lead time but increasing quality, agility & flexibility. You will be heavily involved in developing manufacturing strategy, maximising the use of the shop floor & other knowledge bases through the introduction & leadership of formal, continuous/lean improvement teams. You will have managed a production engineering department of a manufacturing company with experience of producing high variety, mid volume, electrical products where reliability, functionality & aesthetics are critical. You possess a good understanding of automation, component standardisation & DFM. You must have a demonstrable & measurable history of improving production performance, especially quality, and you will hold an engineering degree in production engineering with a good record in continuous professional development.
