AIT Test Software Developer (RF)

Description : AIT Test Software Developer, initial 3 months contract based Portsmouth rate to 35 per hour
Previous experience and qualifications needed by applicants x2026; must have all the exp not just software test exp
Qualifications and skills:
Primary
SQL server databases, rational database architecture (TSQL)
National instruments TestStand
Microsoft Visual Studio (C++, C#, VB, ASP and .Net
XML (Schema, scripts etc)
Software development process and methodology (CMM; ISO 12207, SSADM, UML etc)
Software Configuration Management tools (ClearCase, SourceSafe, PVCS)
RF skills
Experience in Network Analysis and Spectrum Analysis
Ideally familiar with Precision Network Analyser - at measurements and driver level
High level instrumentation control language
RF measurement and test experience
An understanding of Telecommunication Payload build and design would be a plus
Essential
Development of applications running on Windows OS in the context of the .Net framework
Solid software architecture experience (relational databases and .Net projects) on projects with multiple stakeholders
Test software development and support experience
Software development process knowledge and previous experience of process support (audits, process improvement initiatives etc)
RF Test and Payload architecture experience
Previous experience of RF testing as operator (spectrum analysis, network analysis)
Familiar with telecom payload architecture and space industry environment
Outline Job:
The main role of the applicant will be to develop and support the software used on the Payload test system. The development of the Test Software is based on the Payload Test Requirements from which software requirements need to be derived. During the test campaign the test results are reviewed by AIT internal customer - the system validation team - and this may result in changes to these requirements.
The role includes support to AIT operation and support to the PTS hardware team; the applicant may be involved with the setup of the test system hardware, with its calibration and with its utilization during Payload test campaign. The applicant will be a team player ready to work in a rapidly changing requirements environment. He/she will be able to integrate easily and quickly into AIT teams. He/she will have high self motivation and good problem solving skills (technical, logistical and organizational)
