Qualifications and Skills needed by applicants (30.40)
Essential: Degree in Mechanical/Aerospace engineering, or Applied Physics, with knowledge of thermodynamic principles and refrigeration cycles. Some knowledge of cryogenics is essential for the core product line, including an understanding of the behaviour of materials at low temperatures. A basic comprehension of thermal, structural analysis and drive electronics is also required. Good written and interpersonal communication skills are needed. Basic design of analogue electronics, electromechanical system design and knowledge of control theory would be an asset. Experience with mechanisms. Knowledge of Matlab/Simulink with a proven ability to model and predict mechanism performance. Experience with thermodynamic analysis/modelling. Previous Experience
Essential: Proven ability to trouble-shoot instrumentation and lead problem solving activities. Team worker, with ability to delegate and share work effectively and efficiently to other team members. Experience with cryogenic and vacuum system design/operation. Experience working with cryogenics and some experience with issues encountered in analogue electronics design. Previous experience in the space and/or aerospace industry. Experience of working with mechanisms in extreme environment applications. Development of new mechanism concepts and with composition of winning proposals. |
