This is a brilliant opportunity for a Hydraulic Modeller to join a busy consultancy in Hertfordshire.

The chosen candidate will be joining a Flood Risk team currently of 4, undertaking the hydraulic modelling for the river systems on the associate projects. The role will involve examining the existing flood plain maps, liaising with both the Environment Agency and the clients, running the models and producing reports of your findings. As the sole Hydraulic Modeller in the office your duties will also include initially training a more junior member of staff with the support of your Director, and long term the exciting chance to grow a dedicated team.

My client is involved in a wide range of developments including schools, police stations, health centres, large retail parks and housing.

To be successful in your application you will need to have a proven ability using HEC-RAS, ISIS and TU-FLOW in hydraulic modelling. Candidates will need to have a demonstrable track record in modelling, also liaising with governing bodies such as the Environment Agency, clients and colleagues alike. Previous experience of mentoring more junior colleagues will be advantageous. Strong communication and written skills are a must, flexibility and enthusiasm is also very important. You are likely to be Degree and MSc/MEng qualified from a UK university in an Environmental/Water related subject. Support towards Chartership will also be offered.
