| Can you look at a pavement and know what it will take to maintain for years more than it currently has? A prominent engineering consultancy required a Principle Pavement Engineer to assist them in the design of pavement schemes in South London. Duties: The main duties of the Principal Pavement Design Engineer include, but are not limited to: - Assist Clients with preparation of briefs. - Response to brief with fee proposal, programme and method statement. - Interpretation of visual pavement inspection. - Recommendation for site investigation and testing. - Preparation of preliminary design reports with options for pavement rehabilitation - this will require a good understanding of pavement design principles, the economics of pavement maintenance, the management of works to reduce impact of traffic and the political drivers of local authority clients. - Engage with stakeholders (statutory and public) - Preparation of risk assessments (project risk and health & safety) - Convert preliminary designs into detailed designs fit for implementation - Manage projects for commercial performance, programme and quality of the deliverables. - Be seen to be a leader by the team and client will need to manage the performance of others. - Responsible for technical development of junior staff. - Competent at Microsoft Word, Excel and Project. - CAD work would be undertaken by dedicated technicians but the candidate will need to communicate his requirements clearly with draughtsman. - Review quality of work and ongoing relationship with Client. Desirable - Project management, financial and programme management experience - Develop opportunities with new clients particularly in the highway pavement sector Qualifications Relevant Degree / MSc from an accredited University - Essential Membership of an appropriate Professional Institution or Association or overseas qualification with a reciprocal agreement with a UK institution - Desirable Experience - Undertaken visual inspection and interpretation of highway condition - Prepared preliminary design and detailed design reports for schemes - Applied pavement design methodologies in urban environments - Stakeholder consultation and reporting - Competent knowledge of the DMRB, the Specification for Highway Works and the Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works - Contract document preparation, using current CDM regulations to produce detailed pre-construction safety information and risk assessments - Site inspection / supervision experience âx0080;x0093; required to inform this role but not part of the role's duties - Expertise in preparing literate, high quality reports with appropriate IT skills To apply for this position, candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK Matchtech Group Plc is acting as an Employment Business in relation to this vacancy. |
