| An exciting new opportunity has arisen for an experienced Principal Systems Engineer to provide systems engineering support within a team delivering Sonar and related products on time and to budget. Reporting to the Chief Engineer the role encompasses sub-system design authority activities, product development, integration and validation, on bid preparation and costing activities management and implementation of solution.
Main responsibilities:
Sub-system design support to the Project System Design Authority
Customer liaison and support to the business development activity to understand and shape the requirement Generation of "end to end" solutions Functional decomposition of high-level requirements Structured Requirements Analysis and Capture Preparation of specifications, ICD's and technical proposals Management of interfaces from inception to FCA/PCA Technical analysis and guidance on development projects System integration activities Requirements demonstration and support to the design sell-off process Skills and Experience:
Experience in a Electro-mechanical aspects of outboard ship and Sonar systems with project values in excess of 2 Million.
Previous experience of working in the military environment, ideally on MoD programmes Experience of working to MIL-STDs 490,499, 498 &1521 and EIA-632 Experienced in the introduction of new techniques and technology to give a competitive edge Able to demonstrate a breadth of engineering knowledge with the ability to evaluate solutions in different disciplines Technically rigorous, providing a thorough and consistent approach Ability to produce innovative solutions Self-starter with motivational drive to assimilate complex information and overcome problems quickly and effectively Commercially astute and technically competent with the ability to communicate effectively Fully proficient in the use of PC based tools, such as MS Excel and Word and other applications including DOORS and MS Project Electronics Degree or equivalent.
