| We are looking for an experienced Highway Engineer / Project Manager to work on the delivery of highway maintenance and improvement schemes. In this role you will be working on the delivery of highway maintenance schemes for the Highways Agency.
The main purpose of this role is to ensure that all highway maintenance projects are compliant with corporate Quality Management System, ensuring all outputs are properly reviewed/checked in accordance with corporate Quality Management procedures.
The successful candidate will be degree qualified in Civil Engineering and will have experience of Highways Design Standards, experience of completing Highways Projects on time and within budget and experience of DfT procedures and processes for a high speed network.
Typical Tasks/Responsibilities as follows:
Ensuring compliance with relevant health and safety legislation
Producing innovative, effective and technically acceptable design and contractual solutions
Managing engineers, technicians and other staff within the team
Assisting with the identification of programme delivery, resources and budgets for the Business Plan process
Clarifying the project brief and identify the project objectives with the Clients/stakeholders.
Liaise with Clients/stakeholders and coordinate other authorities to ensure satisfactory compliance with the Clients/stakeholders requirements.
To monitor and provide information to project Clients/stakeholders particularly in relation to time scales, cost and quality.
To develop appropriate relationships with client and contractors to ensure the smooth and trouble-free delivery of projects and services.
Identify opportunities for additional work from existing and new Clients/stakeholders.
Liaise with senior staff in managing tender and contract processes.
Liaise with senior staff to project manage the design workload, including planning, scheduling, monitoring and controlling the programme, resources and costs.
Undertake financial reporting using the company's financial reporting system.
Prepare and ensure the adequacy of project documents and reports including feasibility and study reports.
As an experienced project manager you will be expected to have the following skills and experience: Ability to use formal project management programmes such as Microsoft Project
Communication and skills to be able to write and present reports to the Project Manager and external clients. Ability to use all standard Microsoft Office Products. Experience/knowledge of specialist tools such as AutoCAD and MX would be beneficial. Prince2 or similar Project Management methodology.
