Service/Commissioning Engineer - Mechanical A Mechanical Service / Commissioning Engineer with experience working on large generators is required to carry out on-site installation, alignment, cleaning, repair and modification of large high voltage electric generators. Ideally you will be Degree or Degree equivalent qualified in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. At a minimum, qualified through a recognised Craft apprenticeship in fitting and assembly operations on large high voltage rotating electrical machines. Your role will be to: - Supervise the off-loading and manoeuvring into position large generators (up to approximately 200 tonnes) and related equipment onto prepared foundations - Carrying out alignment checks and adjustments to machines and complex shaft systems using mechanical, optical and laser based systems. - Strip down and rebuild large generators and related equipment; fault find and rectify as necessary and overhaul and clean - Interpret specifications and technical requirements; prepare method statements and prepare detailed and concise reports for submission to customers. Attend technical meetings on site and at customers’ premises. - Undergo training if necessary to ensure that assistance to winding specialists in carrying out in-situ winding repairs/rewinds is provided - Supervise and train customers’ site personnel - Carry out an on-site risk assessment on every assignment and record details thereof on the special form provided. - Carry out other reasonable duties as directed from time to time You must be able to undertake extensive overseas and offshore working, in addition to attending at sites in the UK, often for protracted periods.
