A vacancy has arisen within the Design Support section of Engineering Support at Portsmouth for a Design Engineer. Reporting to the Constructive Design Manager.

Main Duties and Responsibilities Include:

* To prepare and check proposal drawings (design solutions) various MoD agencies against multiple platforms.

* Act as the technical liaison providing solutions and drawings, responding to internal customers and other co-located based business units for constructive based queries.

* Provide test and trials services required for the completion of tasks undertaken by the Ship Repair and Un-programmed work sections.

* Deliver current Mature Design Solutions and produce the design solutions for a variety of platforms.

* Provide hull structural survey, ventilation and feasibility reports on request.

* Deliver and enhance SHE within areas of responsibility.

Role Requirements:

* Well developed analytical, problem solving and decision skills with the ability to deliver positive solutions in the area of expertise.

âx0080;¢ To undertake feasibility studies for a variety of customers and contribute to BVT wide operational initiatives and business improvement activities.

âx0080;¢ Maximise current and potential relationships with customers.

The Successful Candidate will:

âx0080;¢ Be ONC / HNC qualified in Naval Architecture or equivalent and have experience in constructive and mechanical theory.

âx0080;¢ Have a good understanding of ships structure and systems also capable of delivering drawings to MoD standards.

âx0080;¢ Have a strong focus on SHE and its impact Engineering Design.

âx0080;¢ Have a good working knowledge of Microsoft applications including Word/Excel, accustomed to using AutoCAD and Inventor 3D package.

Familiar with general legal safety requirements as a minimum and ideally IOSH trained, although training will be provided.
