AIT Software developer based Portsmouth initial 6 months contract to 35ph Qualifications and Skills needed by applicants: The main skills needed for this position are 1) Linux expertise 2) Script development/ENS programme knowledge 3) RF instruments automation experience. So applicants will need a thorough grounding in all 3Knowledge of software used on ENS test systems; UNIX/Linux, SCOS2000, TOPE SQL server/ Relational database skills. Enterprise Portal. Test Software development. Software development process and methodology; CMM, ISO 12207, SSADM, UML etc ESA processes. In addition RF Test and Earth Obs Payload architecture experience would be desirable. Previous experience The candidate should have experience in the field of test software development. Previous experience in the development of applications running on UNIX/Linux. Test software development and support experience in the context of an ENS programme would be desirable. Software development process knowledge and previous experience of process support (audits, process improvement initiatives etc) Outline Job: The AIT test software team is looking for a software developer to perform the following tasks: The development of the software used on the Project Test System and the update and modification of this test software throughout the test campaign. Interface all project stakeholders for the software team (project; Quality, System Validation, AIT operations, SQA Team, Customers, external software suppliers etc.) Make sure the system developed is compliant with ISO and ESA quality standards and with the department's software development process. Desirable technical skills include expertise in the following areas: Earth Observation Payload Test Software. Automation of RF Tests. Development, Validation and Maintenance of software projects. The role will require the candidate to act as Software Developer for all the layers of the software used on the test systems (PTS) and to support this software during the AIT Test Campaign. This includes the defined definition of the requirements with the system validation team; then the development of the software (internally or external) and then the responsibility for the support of the test software during the payloads and spacecraft integration phases. The role will require the candidate to liaise with external software suppliers, track actions and ensure the development phase is successful and then monitor the integration and validation phase. The role includes the delivery and support of overall test system (with support from the EGSE hardware team) to AIT Operations and to the System Validation Team. The application will be able to solve business needs in a strategic manner, allowing the software system to grow and perform in the long term.
