Level 10, Social Worker holding a Social Work Qualification and Registered with the Social Care Council
Having 3 years post qualification experience
Able to demonstrate an advanced level of professional competence, which may have been assessed internally.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To enable pupils to receive maximum benefit from education provision made available to them.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Use specialist knowledge of children's disability to provide a casework service to families.
2. Interview families on home visits or in school to undertake complex assessments of the social, psychological, emotional, economic or educational factors involved in meeting pupils special needs and develop comprehensive plans to help meet those needs.
3. See pupils in groups or individually for counselling
4. Have an in-depth understanding of Special Needs and how this impacts on Child Development.
5. Offer practical advice, emotional support and therapeutic help/counselling to pupils and parents so as to help them meet the emotional, behavioural and practical needs of their children, based on a thorough knowledge and understanding of both child development and Special Needs
