Electronics Test & Development Engineer - Power Supply / SMPS - Essex

Description : Electronics Test & Development Engineer - Power Supply / SMPS - Essex Due to our increasing work-load we are currently looking to recruit a Technician/Development Engineer to assist our design engineers in the testing and development of our power supplies. Job Spec: Main function would be testing prototype switch mode power supplies (smps) to product specification and working with design engineers to optimise performance. You would also help to fault-find problems, evaluate/test different power components in units, wind transformers and chokes as required. Office based work would be mostly writing up test reports, working with drawing office to create assembly/winding drawings etc. Need hard working, enthusiastic person, willing to be flexible depending on work-load. Has to be able to work to dead-lines and be a self-motivated character. Other tasks would involve supporting the team leader/project manager, supervising tests to validate designs and establish test regimes to ensure that products are manufactured to the required quality, safety and reliability. Attend and support internal Design Reviews, involving working on costings and preparing reports for review. Their average day would be split roughly 60/40 lab/office, so emphasis is on practical work rather than computer based. Skills/Qualifications/Experience Required Essential you have had good amount of hands-on, practical experience of working with smps on bench, and are enthusiastic and keen to work on bench. Experience of surface mount assembly/re-work an asset Knowledge/experience of different smps topologies useful Applicants must have a minimum of HNC/HND in electronic engineering Any experience/knowledge of the following would be an advantage:- Analogue Design, Control Circuit Design, PCB layout techniques, component selection, thermal management , MTBF and EMC Will be working in UK R & D department of a global company. Salary dependent on experience but would be competitive.
