Overview
This role will be responsible for servicing automation equipment remotely and at the customers’ facilities with a focus on resolution of customer issues. The Electro-Mechanical Field Service Technician will prepare comprehensive service reports to support system improvements and generating additional opportunities. This role will be responsible for line moves, cell/line installations and servicing automation equipment at the customers’ facilities with a focus on resolution of mechanical and electrical customer issues.
Job Responsibilities
-Operate machinery to demonstrate equipment operation and analyze malfunctions.
-Travel to both domestic and international customer locations for long and short-term support
-When assigned as a project lead, lead on-site team, and communicate with customer and ATS Project Manager.
-Coordinate 3rd party vendors and assist in resolving technical issues.
-Follow ATS and customer’s plant and safety regulations while at their facility.
-Complete detailed Service Report for the services provided on a daily/weekly basis
-Be available to be on-call on a rotational basis.
-Communicate through various mediums with internal and external customers to understand needs and support resources and solutions accordingly.
-Collect and assemble all necessary technical information and customer specifications to prepare for service scope.
-Facilitate warranty/non-warranty claims with the customer.
-Coordinate service projects including team meetings, schedule and financials as required.
-Assist others and take on temporary or permanent assignments as requested by the Service Manager.
-Maintain up-to-date knowledge on current products and equipment used at ATS
-Responsible for meeting or exceeding customer expectations in an efficient manner.
-Show current certification or obtain certification to operate forklifts, cranes, and other material handling equipment.
-Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the ATS Code of Business Conduct.
-Adhere to all ATS health and safety rules and procedures.
-Follow customer’s plant and safety regulations while at their facility.
Qualifications
-A post-secondary diploma, degree, or certificate of qualification specializing in mechanical engineering, Tool & die maker, MTBI, or equivalent
-5+ years of experience in a hands-on mechanical environment serving in a technical capacity (builder or technician)
-An excellent understanding of pneumatics and hydraulics with basic electrical and system control
-Aptitude to read drawings, reference manuals & assembly system instruction guides
-Well versed with troubleshooting of mechanical systems
-Experience in working with customers to resolve problems
-Proficient with Microsoft Word, Outlook, & Excel
-Ability to read, speak, write, & understand English in a professional manner
-Strong initiative, innovative, and keen attention to detail
-Ability to work effectively in fast-paced environment
-Excellent interpersonal & communication skills
-Ability and willingness to travel up to 95%
-Willingness & ability to be on-call on a rotational basis
-Must be eligible and able to travel domestically & internationally within 30-days from hire date and legally eligible to operate a vehicle, as this is an essential job function
