Software Engineer Specialist
The Team:
Global Banking and Markets Engineering (GBME) is the fast-moving, award-winning technology engine that powers Scotiabank’s Corporate, Investment Banking and Capital Markets businesses.
The Role:
GBME is searching for
Software
Engineers
who are continuous learners and are eager to boost capabilities of capital markets products and analytics platforms.
Responsibilities:
In partnership with peer engineers, business partners, and the various GBME teams, you will:

-Work closely with end users, and business teams to understand business needs, conduct gap analysis and requirements assessments as needed

-Partner with
Architecture on the design and integration

eliver and enhance new and current solutions and applications
style="list-style-type:disc"-
-Be i
nvolved in the full life cycle of a project, responsible for producing actionable and complete specifications, writing production quality code, and implementation
style="list-style-type:disc"-
-Design, deliver and implement a database schema
style="list-style-type:disc"-
-Design test sets and automate where possible, including functional and
non functional
testing, regression testing as
well as
performance testing

-Write deployment scripts and
leverage
tools such as the Accelerator pipeline to promote code
style="list-style-type:disc"-
-Support the solution in production
(as needed)
style="list-style-type:disc"-
-Improve the end user experience by finding scalable solutions and addressing complex ad hoc
queries.

-Effectively communicate with technical and non-technical audiences
style="list-style-type:disc"-
-Able to work with and refactor legacy code (as needed).

-Coach and train end users (as needed)

KEY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR PROJECT:

-Bachelor’s degree in computer science

or relevant experienc

-5
+ years on Java 17 and J2EE
style="list-style-type:disc"-
-3-5 years on Spring framework, and spring-boot, spring-integration
style="list-style-type:disc"-
-Nice to have: 3-5 years on Streaming architecture such as Kafka, Elastic Search and comfortably working on integration it with Spring.

-ORM framework and JPA
style="list-style-type:disc"-
-Tibco MQ and JMS connection
style="list-style-type:disc"-
-Experience with relational and non-relational databases is a MUST.

-Python scripting is highly desirable.

-Experience with Agile methodologies
is a must.

-Web architecture such as JavaScript,
JQuery
, Angular, Vue, HTML, CSS

-Experience with capital market trading platform, ION REPO platform, are strong asset

-Proficient with Unix Tools, shell scripting, SQL queries, PL/SQL, and SQL Loader - or equivalent
