The Lab Technicain will assist in developing and improving laboratory methods and procedures. This jobholder, reporting to the Lab Supervisor, will analyze all finished products, in-process products, and raw materials. This is a shift position at a chemical manufacturing site that operates 24/7. The Lab Technician will be required to work nights and weekends. Responsibilities may include:
Testing/Technical – 60%

-Utilize a variety of testing methodologies including but not limited to, chemical and physical testing.
-Perform/assist in basic environmental compliance testing to ensure that plant environmental systems are operating properly.
-Evaluate in-process samples to ensure compliance with targets and specifications.
-Complete and maintain accurate documentation of all testing work relative to finished product, in-process material, raw materials and environmental compliance.
Production/Process Support – 15%

-Calculate adjustments to the processes based on the obtained data if needed.
-Collaborate with process/production engineers, new product development owners (R&D) and site supervision to provide technical support on special projects, quality and process improvements.
-Provide support to site supervision concerning batches out of specification, chemical operator analytical testing training, raw materials and logistics/accounting of finished products.
Administrative - 25%
-Report test findings in appropriate information systems andensure the analytical equipment is fully functional and properly calibrated
-Order, organize and stock lab supply room to prevent running out of essential materials
The successful candidate will have:
-An associate's degree in chemistry or similar
-2 years related work experience in a laboratory
-Chemical manufacturing experience, preferred
-Experience with Gas Chromatography, HPLC, Titrations and XRF system preferred
-Good computer skills
-Knowledge of LIMS, SAP and DCS systems strongly preferred
-Postive attitude and strong work ethic
-Decision manking and problem solving skills
-Ability to work independently with limited supervision
-Team player who can function efficiently across all departments within the plant
-Aptitude to operate and maintain sophisticated analytical instrumentation
-Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner with hazardous chemicals.
