About the Role
As Cellar Door Supervisor at Church Road, you will play a key leadership role in shaping the visitor experience at one of New Zealand’s most celebrated wineries. Acting as 2IC to the Brand Home Manager, you will guide and inspire the Cellar Door team to deliver experiences of the highest standard, reflecting the prestige and legacy of Church Road. With a strong focus on driving sales, fostering brand loyalty, and ensuring operational excellence, you will help elevate every guest interaction into a lasting connection with our wines and story.
In this role, you will:

-Lead by example on the floor, delivering polished, memorable wine experiences that showcase our brand heritage.
-Drive commercial performance through premium sales, wine club growth, and brand advocacy.
-Cultivate loyalty by ensuring each guest leaves with a deeper connection to Church Road.
-Mentor and support the Cellar Door team, upholding excellence in service, product knowledge, and professionalism.
-Act as a trusted deputy to the Brand Home Manager, assisting with leadership, planning, and reporting.
-Oversee key operational functions, including rostering, stock management, and compliance with all licensing and safety requirements.
-Contribute to the ongoing development of innovative experiences that enhance Church Road’s reputation as a world-class destination.
-Competent use and management/creation of POS systems (Epos, Swiftpos, Shopify) and online bookings platforms (ResDairy, Rezdy)
-Manage our tastings and experiences availability, coordinate, execute and reconcile FIT and Travel Trade bookings.
About You
You are a highly knowledgeable and passionate wine professional, ideally WSET Level 3 qualified (or equivalent), who takes pride in delivering experiences that are as refined and memorable as the wines you present. With a natural ability to connect with people, you balance exceptional customer service with a deep understanding of wine, inspiring both guests and colleagues alike.
You bring professionalism, leadership, and a genuine love of storytelling to every interaction, creating an environment where visitors feel welcomed, engaged, and connected to the Church Road legacy.
Alongside your guest-facing expertise, you are confident mentoring others, maintaining high operational standards, and contributing to the commercial success of a world-class Cellar Door.
You will bring:
-WSET Level 3 (or equivalent) wine knowledge, with the confidence to deliver premium tutored tastings and tours.
-A proven ability to create meaningful guest connections that foster brand loyalty and advocacy.
-Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with a passion for developing team capability.
-A polished and professional approach, consistently upholding high standards of service, presentation, and compliance.
-Commercial acumen, with experience driving sales, wine club growth, and business performance.
-Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
