How You’ll Help Transform Healthcare:
Provides a ministry of spiritual care and emotional support to patients of all ages, family members and staff.
-Provides pastoral care to patients of all ages and members of their families. Adjusts the length, type and purpose of Pastoral Care to fit the needs to the situation.
-Provides timely response and appropriate intervention in emergency situations to patients, families and staff (i.e. Code Blue, Code Green, Trauma alerts).
-Consults with members of the hospital staff regarding patient and family care. Seeks and provides pertinent information to/from other disciplines regarding the care/treatment of the patient.
-Serves as pastoral counselor on request to members of the hospital staff.
-Mentors and evaluates work of volunteers and interns who have been assigned to the staff chaplain’s area of clinical responsibility.
-Participates in in-services, clinical educational opportunities, case review sessions and staff meetings.
-Helps orient, train and evaluate new staff members and interns of the department.
-Takes call for the department as needed.
What We Require:
Education: Undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university required. A master’s degree from an accredited seminary required. Ordination or denominational endorsement as a minister of that denomination required. Completion of four units of Clinical Pastoral Education from an accredited training center preferred, or demonstrates equivalent education or experience.
Experience: Prior experience in providing pastoral care services in an acute care facility preferred. For on call positions, response time within 30 minutes preferred.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Effective interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills required.
