Job Summary
The Substitute Teacher is responsible for providing instruction and classroom management in the absence of the regular teacher. The substitute upholds the mission of Catholic education by fostering a safe, respectful, and faith-centered environment conducive to student learning and growth.
Job Responsibilities
-Follow lesson plans provided by the regular teacher to maintain continuity of instruction.
-Manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive, orderly environment.
-Supervise students in the classroom, hallways, lunchroom, playground, and during transitions as needed.
-Communicate effectively with students and staff; report any issues to school leadership.
-Uphold and model Catholic values and participate in classroom prayer or school liturgies when applicable.
-Leave detailed notes for the returning teacher, including updates on student behavior and lesson progress.
-Follow all school and diocesan policies, including safety, dress code, and Safe Environment protocols.
Job Requirements
-Prior experience working with children or in a classroom setting strongly preferred.
-Practicing Catholic preferred; must support the values and mission of Catholic education.
-Strong classroom management and communication skills.
-Completion of diocesan Safe Environment training and background check required.
-Flexibility to work on short notice and adapt to different classroom environments.
