The People & Culture Program Expert leads the design and delivery of a strategy that support employee health, safety, and wellbeing across the United States, where SAP employees over 18,000 employees. This role ensures compliance with local legislation, aligns with SAP’s health and safety global standards, and integrates wellbeing into the overall employee experience. Combining strategy, compliance, and people-focused programming, the role helps shape a resilient, safe, and high-performing workplace. This role sits in the Head of People & Culture office for the Americas.

Key Responsibilities

Regulatory Compliance & Risk

-Ensure compliance with all relevant US legislation, with support from legal team.
-Track regulatory changes (with support from the legal team) and where relevant update policies, processes, and training (or support these updates across other functions).

Program Strategy & Delivery

style="margin-top:0.0cm;margin-bottom:0.0cm" type="disc"-
-Own the US Health & Safety strategy: Develop and deliver health, safety, and wellness programs tailored to evolving workforce needs (e.g., hybrid work, psychological safety, mental health, burnout).
-Align programs with SAP’s People Strategy and Global Health & Safety Management Standard.

Governance & Committees

-Lead the US Health & Safety Council; run quarterly meetings and drive follow-up actions.
-Set up state-level joint health and safety committees or policies where required by law.

Communication & Collaboration

style="margin-top:0.0cm;margin-bottom:0.0cm" type="disc"-
-Drive awareness campaigns that foster a culture of wellbeing.
-Where relevant, facilitate health and safety awareness to employees and managers.
-Collaborate with functions such as Total Rewards and Facilities to embed inclusive wellbeing into the employee journey.
-Act as a trusted advisor and escalation point for H&S concerns.

Budget & Vendor Management

-Manage the health & safety budget and oversee vendors for mental health and safety programming.

Required Skills & Attributes

-Comfortable working with senior stakeholders and running councils or committees.
-Proven in project/program management to lead from concept to delivery.
-Strong self-starter with a track record of resolving complex issues.
-Excellent communicator, able to influence senior leaders and adapt to different audiences.
-Strategic, data-driven thinker who can connect compliance, culture, and outcomes.
-Comfortable shifting between high-level planning and hands-on implementation.
-Comfortable in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple details at once with prioritization to keep topics moving forward.

Preferred Experience & Knowledge (assets, not requirements)

-Understanding of US health & safety frameworks and legislation.
-Experience in HR, employee experience, or workplace operations.
-Familiarity with mental health strategies and inclusive wellness.
-Budgeting and vendor management experience.

Compensation Range Transparency
: SAP believes the value of pay transparency contributes towards an honest and supportive culture and is a significant step toward demonstrating SAP’s commitment to pay equity. SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted combined range for this position is $142,500- $327,100(USD) USD. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process. Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollar amount and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance.
