Position: Temporary Quarry Laborer
 

Reports to: Quarry Supervisor

Shift: Monday-Thursday 5:00am to 3:00pm; expected end date 12/31/2025

Pay: $30.69/hr; this is a collective bargaining position.

What you’ll be contributing:
 

Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, performs clean-up duties for quarry areas and equipment.

-Promote and follow all plant safety 
guidelines.
 
-Performs clean-up duties while stationed, as designated, by the primary crusher, cone crusher, shale crusher and secondary crusher. Provides assistance to crusher operators as needed
-Performs general clean-up duties in all areas of the quarry
-Unplugs chutes, feeders and crushers as needed
-Operate equipment such as the backhoe and small loader per conditions specified in the labor contract
-Transport and loads blasting powder and assists Driller/Laborer position - as needed.
-Assists mechanical maintenance personnel as appropriate – as needed.
-Additional
duties as assigned by supervisor
 
 
 

To succeed in this position, you will need:

-High school graduation or equivalent is
required
-Ability
to
read,
write
and
understand
warning
labels,
instructions,
signs,
etc. Willingness to learn, training will be provided

 
 
-Ability to understand and follow verbal instructions from the supervisor 
-Ability to safely and effectively use a shovel, broom, sledgehammer, bar, chipping gun, backhoe, small loader, vacuum truck, pick-up truck, water hose, air hose, air lance, and related equipment. 

What to expect in a cement environment:

Work
to
be
performed
in
a
shop
environment
as
well
as
outdoor
exposure
throughout
the
plant.
Mild
exposure
to
cement
dust,
heat, cold, and noise requires compliance with specified safety guidelines and procedures. Exposure to high elevations of up to 100
 feet in height. Exposure to all weather conditions. Normal operation of mobile equipment may result in jarring and vibratory exposure.
Work requires walking over rough surfaces; bending, pulling and pushing; lifting objects weighing up to 125 pounds; and working in awkward positions and in confined spaces. May work on quarry face, which is up to 600 feet above the quarry pit floor.
