Key Responsibilities:

As an SEN/SEMH Teaching Assistant in a specialist setting, your role is crucial to the success and well-being of the pupils. You will be responsible for:

Working closely with teachers and therapists to deliver the bespoke support outlined in pupils' Education, Health and Care Plans.
*

Providing one-on-one and small-group support to pupils with a wide range of needs, including significant communication, social, and emotional difficulties.
*

Confidently utilising proactive strategies and de-escalation techniques to manage challenging behaviours and support pupils in times of distress.
*

Acting as a key link between pupils, teachers, and other professionals to ensure a consistent and cohesive approach.
*

Providing a consistent, stable, and empathetic presence to help pupils feel safe, secure, and ready to learn.

Requirements:

To succeed in this position, you must possess:

Significant experience working with pupils with complex SEN and SEMH needs in a school or similar specialist environment.

An Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or be willing for a new one).
*

The legal right to work in the UK without any restrictions.
*

Specific training in behaviour management or communication techniques such as Team Teach, Makaton, or PECS is highly desirable.
*

A resilient, patient, and compassionate approach to supporting vulnerable pupils.
*

Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships quickly.
*

A genuine passion for working in specialist settings.
