Description:
The Community Center & Arts Coordinator works under the direction of the Activities Manager to organize and oversee the daily operations of the Community Center ensuring the smooth operation of special and regular events, art exhibits, classes, and workshops. This position will have specific responsibility for engaging with residents, community resources, and visitors to plan events and arts programming that promote a welcoming atmosphere.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Community Center/ Events
Assists in the coordination and execution of community center events, theater performances art workshops and educational programs. Coordinate setup and operation of all audio/visual and multimedia equipment (microphones, speakers, smart TVs, computers, video conferencing systems) for meetings, programs, special events, and presentations held at the community center. In conjunction with IT team, train staff on basic use of technology tools and A/V systems in the Center. Develop schedule to provide on-site technical support to staff, residents, and guests to ensure smooth operation of A/V and technology during events. Maintain and inventory all A/V equipment, and schedule maintenance or repairs as needed. Collaborate with other staff members, including IT, Dining, Activities and Facilities/Security teams to ensure campus, catering and technical requirements are met for all scheduled programs. Assists with the creation and distribution of promotional materials, including flyers, newsletters, and social media posts Maintains accurate records of event attendance, workshop participants, and other administrative tasks. Handles ticketing and membership sales as needed.
Arts Programming
Identifies and schedules contract instructors to maintain a diversified schedule of classes and programs for the art studio and multipurpose room. Manages class registrations and fields inquiries from residents about classes and programs. Assists with setup and breakdown for programs. Provides logistical support to visiting artists, instructors, volunteers and facilitators. Ensures materials and equipment for workshops and programs are prepared and available. Assists with the scheduling, planning, installation, maintenance and removal of art exhibitions in the Community Center and Landing Building Plans and tracks the Williamsburg Landing Art Collection in the Community Center and other buildings on campus, acting as "curator" Ensures the cleanliness and organization of gallery spaces, common areas and event spaces
Community Relations
Actively promotes the center's programs and initiatives to the WL community. Fosters relationships with local artists, community groups, schools, and organizations to encourage involvement in center activities. Provides feedback from the community to management to help improve offerings and services. Collaborate with other team members to ensure a positive working environment Ensures the safety and well-being of all guests and staff by adhering to center policies and procedures. Assists with special projects and performs other tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS Associate's degree or higher in Fine Arts, Humanities, or related field, preferred 2 or more (2+) years of (volunteer or paid) experience in cultural arts administration, events management, arts education, or managing community center programs Demonstrated experience in theater-level audio visual systems and technology, required

Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed. Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds.
