Job Responsibilities
Classroom Instruction:
-Follow the lesson plan provided by the absent teacher or school administration.
-Deliver instructional content to students using appropriate materials, tools, and resources.
-Adapt lessons and activities as needed to meet the diverse needs of students.
Classroom Management:
-Maintain a safe, respectful, and productive classroom environment.
-Enforce school rules and policies to ensure smooth class operations.
-Manage student behavior and address disruptions using appropriate methods.
Student Engagement:
-Actively engage students in learning activities to promote participation.
-Provide guidance and support to help students understand the material.
Assessments and Feedback:
-Monitor student progress and provide feedback according to the lesson plan.
-Administer quizzes, tests, and assessments as required.
-Submit completed work and any necessary reports to the regular teacher or school administration.
Communication:
-Communicate effectively with students, school staff, and administrators.
-Report any issues or incidents during the day, such as conflicts or accidents, to the appropriate personnel.
Safety and Well-being:
-Ensure the physical and emotional safety of students at all times.
-Follow any specific health, safety, or emergency protocols as required by the school.
Job Requirements
Education: High school diploma required; a Bachelor's degree in education or a related field preferred.
Licensing/Certification: A teaching certification or substitute teacher permit may be required.
Experience: Prior teaching or classroom experience preferred but not always required.
Skills:
-Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
-Ability to manage classroom behavior effectively.
-Flexibility and adaptability to work in different educational settings.
-Basic understanding of classroom technology and instructional tools.
Working Conditions
-Work is generally conducted within the classroom during regular school hours.
-Substitute teachers may be required to work with students across different age groups and subject areas.
-Temporary, on-call position with varying schedules.
