The Core of the Role:
As a Cover Supervisor, your main objective is to maintain continuity and structure when a teacher is absent. You won't be planning or marking lessons, but you will be the key figure in the classroom, responsible for a safe and effective learning environment. Your day-to-day duties will involve:
* Delivering Pre-Set Work: You will present and supervise lessons that have been planned and prepared by the regular teacher.
* Managing Classroom Harmony: You'll enforce the school's behaviour policies with confidence and consistency to ensure a productive atmosphere.
* Encouraging & Supporting Students: You will be on hand to answer questions, offer encouragement, and help students stay on-task with their assignments.
* Providing Feedback: At the end of the lesson, you will accurately report back on student progress and any incidents to the relevant staff member.
Essential Skills & Desired Qualifications:
* While a teaching qualification (QTS) is not required, we are looking for individuals with a specific set of skills and a commitment to professional conduct.
* You must have or be willing to undergo an Enhanced DBS check as part of our safeguarding process.
* Strong Classroom Presence: The ability to confidently lead a class of students and command respect.
* Exceptional Communication: You are able to give clear, concise instructions and build positive rapport with students and staff.
* Resilience & Adaptability: You can stay calm under pressure and adapt quickly to different subjects, year groups, and school environments.
* Organisational Skills: You are reliable and able to manage your time effectively to ensure a smooth school day.
