Department Summary

The Center for Excellence in Literacy Instruction is housed within the School of Education. The CELI's vision is to enable Mississippi to be a national leader in supporting families, educators,and communities to ensure that all children build strong foundations for lifelong success. The mission is to build family, educator and community capacity to strengthen children's language, literacy, and executive function development by assisting large-scale adoption of evidence-based programs and resources, enhancing individualized support in early learning settings, facilitating community engagement and partnership, and advocating for supportive policies and investments. CELI staff are passionate about the vision and mission statements and align all work to the statements. Projects within CELI exist to move these statements forward across the state and are interwoven so that staff can form a cohesive support system in communities.

This is a part-time position.

Role Summary

This incumbent provides support across all daily operations of departmental projects. The incumbent oversees, directs, and/or coordinates administrative, financial, personnel, and general business operations for the department and provides technical assistance and support to identify the needs and available resources related to the projects.

Examples of Work Performed
-Coordinates departmental project activities.
-Prioritizes and coordinates departmental resources for goal achievement and provides initial budgetary and expenditure assessments of subcontracts.
-Completes budgetary audits and maintenance of records
-Ensures compliance with policies and procedures; participates in office planning; and supervises efficient operation of office in meeting external party needs.
-Identifies, analyzes, and disseminates relevant materials.
-Provides technical writing and budget preparation support as needed for proposal and project development and reporting requirements.
-Facilitates communication and networking among project participants and external entities.
-Develops, programs, modifies, and maintains the project’s information systems utilizing technology.
-Designs and oversees data retrieval procedures for data collection, performs analyses on data collected, and reports findings and makes recommendations.
-Attends related meetings

-Monitor Account activity 
-Planning events with program staff help 
-Staff Scheduling
-Staff PTO/leave
-Onboarding new staff members for CELI processes and procedures
-CELI Student Workers-Eforms, coordinate timesheets (Angela or Zachary to sign), liaison with HR and students as needed
-Reconciling purchases and maintaining print and digital records for internal auditing purposes
-Expense monitoring—following UM Procurement policies and procedures and ensure that staff follow those
-Travel reimbursement forms (ensure Director has signed)
-UM inventory and loan forms
-Purchasing documentation for grant requirements (UM Accounting processes for submitting invoices and/or receipts to funders)
-Grant writing
-Review/edit documents for staff 

Essential Functions

These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following.  Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department.

1. Supports the creation of project definitions, work breakdowns, rough order estimates, project plans, communication plans, and project schedules and specifications; serve as liaison to resolve problems and concerns.
2. Researches solutions to project management issues using the appropriate resources; lead short-term, tactical projects of various types.
3. Helps to determine scope of work required for assigned projects.
4. Contributes to team or project meetings to communicate project timelines, milestones, and updates.
5. Assists in preparation of reports and program documentation. 
6. Follows the objectives, priorities, goals of projects through best practices and industry standard methodologies.

Minimum Education/Experience

Education: Bachelor's Degree
