Based in Macquarie Park, Sydney, as a senior Technical Specialist, your role is a subject matter expert in the IP Networks Reliability Engineering team, which handles various aspects of network management and security.
The role is responsible for driving proactive initiatives to improve network reliability and availability, as well as working with different teams and stakeholders. The role may also require late night and weekend work.
This requires exceptional and in depth understanding of respective domains, platforms and testing and support methodologies, and the ability to provide technical leadership.
Your day in the life of a Senior Technical Specialist at Optus

-Lead IPNE PIR and rep IPNE across all problem management related engagements
-Manage change advisory board process, qualifications, approvals including seeking approvals
-Ensuring respective platform owners are tracking to EOL & EOS replacement and compliance to CSRC guidelines.
-Accountable for Problem Management, Change Management, lifecycle management governance and business continuity planning across technology tower and responsible for cross functional deliverables across IPNE towers
-Drive, track and build KMDB (Knowledge Management database) improving self service capabilities across – IPNE, Networks and other network services.
-Overall ownership of various products in relation to Operations.
-Investigate, develop, and deploy new features or designs that will improve the Reliability and availability of existing infrastructure
Your skills to pay the bills

-Extensive experience in telecommunications. Both depth and breadth of technical experience is required.
-This should include extensive experience in a technical role in one or more of the following areas: Mobile Network Technologies, Voice over IP, IP Networking, OSS (Network management), Intelligent Network elements, Data Centre switching, Firewall, Perimeter security, Cyber Security & Automation
-Good understanding of Optus operations roles, procedures, and day to day activities.
-Understanding and can diagnose customer complaints
-Major fault management across multiple platforms
-Clearly communicate and present ideas and information to GM level
-Vendor certifications, such as CCIE or equivalent, would be highly desirable and has keen interest in AI developments
