BASIC FUNCTION : Provides for the physical and emotional needs of the infants in the Pregnant Women and Infants Program. Recognizes the central importance of the overall well-being of infants.
MAJOR DUTIES :
Creates a safe, nurturing, and comfortable environment where the infants can grow and develop emotionally and physically.
Keeps record of each infant's progress and discusses the progress and needs with the supervisor, parents, and interdisciplinary team.
Provides daily guidance to the new mothers on how to bond with their new babies, basic infant care, proper nutrition, and the effects of drugs on the infants.
Demonstrates to new mothers the proper technique to hold and massage infants.
Involves the parent as much as possible in the infant's developmental process and encourages parents to increase their childcare capabilities.
Prepares bottles, changes diapers of infants, bathes and dresses infants.
Be alert to infants who may be ill or show signs of emotional, physical, or developmental problems and discusses these matters with the supervisor and the nurse.
Takes infants on nature walks in the local community park.
Creates a safe environment for babies.
Keeps daily record of infant supplies and submits orders to replenish supplies as needed.
Supervises consumers assigned to clean the Pregnant Women and Infants Program area at all times.
Fills in for other Childcare Workers on leave as needed.
Performs other duties as requested or assigned.
PER DIEM SCHEDULES: (on-call)
Monday-Sunday: 7:00AM-3:00PM
Monday-Sunday: 4:00PM-12:00AM

Requirements:
QUALIFICATION - EDUCATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE :
Certificate in Childcare
High School Diploma or GED
Ability to anticipate and prevent problems relating to the care of babies
Patient, understanding, and articulate
Ability to maintain composure when dealing with cranky and crying infants
CPR Certification
Compensation details: 20-22 Hourly Wage
