Schedule: 1 st Shift, 7am - 4pm

FOUNDRY ENGINEER SUMMARY

Oversee all pattern/gating works and pilot programs/testing. Identify top areas for improvement of cast parts, determine the root cause(s) and test potential improvements through pilot testing and other experimentation. As needed, audit work activities of foundry production workers to verify conformance of activities to quality assurance standards.

FOUNDRY ENGINEER ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Review the tooling of existing and new pattern/core boxes and create work orders as needed. Calculate riser and gating sizes and locations. Update the core, molding, and grinding files. Identify and troubleshoot foundry scrap issues. Brainstorm potential causes for common and special cause variation and create plans to address causes. Complete layouts of pattern geometries and impressions. Manage pilots and scheduling including performing final review of parts, performing destructive testing, reporting results (with photos), and making updates/changes as needed. Periodically audit production operations to verify that manufacturing processes are being conducted according to assurance and standard operating procedures. Train, coach, and mentor employees on foundry processes and procedures as needed. Inspect and evaluate nonconforming material to establish nature and root causes of defects and recommend an appropriate corrective action. Identify and develop opportunities to improve safety, quality, and productivity. Practice safe work habits and wears all issued personal protective equipment in the workplace. Promote safety and safety awareness Alerts foundry supervisors of conditions, situations, or practices which could affect the quality of manufactured products. Other duties within the Quality Department as needed.

FOUNDRY ENGINEER QUALIFICATIONS

Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; OR three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with customers or employees of organization. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office including, at a minimum, Outlook, Word, and Excel. Frequently required to use hands to handle or manipulate objects, tools, or controls.
