Position Summary
This position will work with members of the Strategic Communications group to assist in creating and reviewing a wide range of communications, including remarks and background materials for senior executives, internal memos and newsletters, and additional communications that support and engage NBA staff and stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have specific experience drafting and editing communications materials, excellent attention to detail and writing skills, and a background in communications or journalism.
Major Responsibilities
• Draft background materials and remarks for presentations, panels and other speaking engagements for senior executives.
• Serve as part of the editorial team for various league office communications materials, including memos, press releases, key messages and statements.
• Create weekly memos and monthly newsletters to key NBA stakeholders with business updates.
• Maintain a database of historical league messaging and comments.
• Assist with award nominations and submissions for senior leaders.
• Provide copy-editing assistance as needed within the Communications department and to other departments.
• Assist with media relations and operations at league tentpole events, including the Emirates NBA Cup, NBA All-Star, NBA Finals and the NBA Draft, among other events as needed.
Required Education/Professional Experience
• 3-5 years of communications or journalism experience
• BA/BS required
Required Skills/Knowledge Attributes
• Exceptional writing skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Experience formatting on Microsoft applications
• Ability to multitask, prioritize projects and meet deadlines while working with speed and accuracy
• Motivated self-starter who can work independently as well as in a team environment
• General knowledge of the NBA and basketball
Salary Range: 75,000 - 85,000
