Delivery:

The mode of instruction for this course will be in person.

Description of Course
: This course addresses empirical and theoretical issues in education economics. Topics will include the interaction of human capital with growth and inequality, teacher incentives and teacher quality, early childhood education, and the racial achievement gap. We will also discuss the tools economists use to measure the causal effects of policies, and consider how statistics often presented in policy debates may be biased. After this course, students should be comfortable reading research papers in economics. (24L)

: 30 hours (per section)

Position Description
: All normal duties related to the design, administration and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; supervision of teaching assistants; development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and examinations, including make-up tests; calculation and submission of grades to university officials; holding regular student office hours and maintaining reasonable availability for student contact.

Minimum Qualifications
:

-Demonstrated evidence of excellence in teaching and mastery of subject area
-Previous experience in teaching this, or related course, at university level
-Demonstrated Excellence in delivering online courses in a remote setting.
 

Preferred Qualifications
:

-PhD in Economics
-Professional experience in Finance industry
 

Salary
:    $9,820.70 at Sessional Lecturer I 0.5 FCE rate (inclusive of vacation pay)

$10,510.04 at Sessional Lecturer II 0.5 FCE rate (inclusive of vacation pay)

Salary rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail, in the event in a discrepancy of rates with this posting.

Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II or III in accordance with Article 14:12
