Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of
Lead VoIP Network Engineer Developer.
Reporting to the
Senior Manager IT Services,
this position is responsible to
lead the design, security, and optimization of enterprise telephony infrastructure—ensuring resilient VoIP operations, regulatory compliance, and business continuity—by managing Avaya platforms or Cisco Platforms, integrating advanced protocols, modernizing systems, and collaborating on upgrades and vendor performance to maximize uptime and user satisfaction.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

-Design and implement resilient VoIP architecture and disaster recovery strategies to ensure uninterrupted business communications.
-Optimize Avaya platforms or Cisco Platforms and resolve configuration or performance issues to increase system efficiency and end-user satisfaction.
-Manage SIP protocols, TLS/SRTP security, certificates, and advanced SBC configurations to enhance telephony security and reliability.
-Maintain regulatory and operational compliance by accurately managing call recording and reporting systems (e.g., Nice, Verint, CMS).
-Proactively monitor Avaya deployments across Linux and Windows environments to minimize downtime and expedite fault resolution.
-Lead the decommissioning of legacy systems to modernize infrastructure, improve reliability, and reduce maintenance costs.
-Collaborate on infrastructure upgrades and cloud/hypervisor integrations with systems architects and network teams to support scalability and growth.
-Deliver targeted user training and develop clear administration documentation to enhance team capabilities and system maintainability.
QUALIFICATIONS

-4-Year University Degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science or IP Networking. Avaya Certified Implementation Specialist (ACIS) or equivalent certifications preferred.
-Over 8 years experience in
enterprise VoIP administration and engineering, including advanced expertise in Avaya platforms or
Cisco Platforms.
-Proven experience designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise VoIP and Avaya telephony systems in complex environments.
-Strong knowledge of SIP protocols, SBC configuration, TLS/SRTP security standards, and certificate management.
-Demonstrated ability to monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve telephony infrastructure issues across Linux and Windows platforms.
-Experience maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements through effective management of call recording and reporting systems (e.g., Nice, Verint, CMS).
-Track record of leading infrastructure modernization projects, including decommissioning legacy systems and supporting cloud or hypervisor integrations.
-Excellent communication skills with the ability to deliver user training, create clear technical documentation, and collaborate with cross-functional teams and vendors.

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions.
