SCOPE:
The position of Toolmaker is tasked with producing metal parts and components used in production as well as finished products for our manufacturing facilities. These individuals read and analyze blueprints, use engineering principles to compute product dimensions and alignments, program and operate CNC Mill and Lathe Machines, design and fabricate jigs and fixtures, and thoroughly inspect final tools and parts for quality assurance. RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Read blueprints and sketches, acquire dimensions from models, or otherwise obtain specifications to plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools, prototypes, or assemblies

-Follow written and verbal work instructions
-Set-up, program, and operate a variety of CNC machines (lathes and milling machines or grinders) and manual machines to cut, bore, grind, or otherwise shape parts to prescribed dimensions and finishes
-Visually inspect parts, check for defects, and measure using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring tools
-Cut, shape, and trim blanks or blocks to specified lengths or shapes, using vertical and horizontal bandsaws
-Design jigs, fixtures, cutting tools, and templates for use as work aids in the fabrication of tools and parts
-File, grind, shim and adjust different parts to fit them properly together
-Grease, oil, clean and adjust machines to ensure proper functionality, as needed
-Conduct test runs with completed tools or dies to ensure that parts meet specifications, making adjustments as necessary
-Safely lift, position, and secure work-pieces using hoists or die table
-Adheres to the ECI 6S program centered around work area safety (organization, standardization, and cleanliness) throughout shift
-Work under minimal supervision on duties and tasks that are frequently non-routine, adapting procedures, techniques, tools, materials and/or equipment to meet special needs
-May perform detailed tasks requiring deeper knowledge fand experience in the specified processes and procedures
-Able to effectively communicate with other functional departments, such as Engineering, Operations and Quality.
-Must maintain a safe work environment by adhering to all safety procedures including those which govern the handling of materials, chemicals, tools, and equipment.
-Responsible and accountable for producing quality work to prescribed standards, with a focus on continuous improvement to meet customer commitments on schedule
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

-High school diploma or GED or equivalent experience
-5+ years’ experience setting-up and programming tool-making machines, along with knowledge of cutting tools and basic tool grinding
-5+ years’ experience using tool-making equipment, including knee mills, engine lathes, horizontal and vertical bandsaws, O.D and I.D. grinders, surface grinders, and tool post grinders, among others
-5+ years’ experience performing manual and CNC machine set-up (lathes and mills) machines, operations, and light production
-Experience in programming CNC equipment (lathes and mills) using G & M codes
-Ability to identify various materials and grades
-Team player with a positive attitude who is willing to work alongside engineers and others
-Skill in critical thinking and problem solving
-Ability to work well under pressure and multi-task
-Must be detailed-oriented with a strong focus on precision and accuracy
-Must be able to lift 50lbs
