JOB HIGHLIGHTS
POSITION PURPOSE: The Destination Experience Concierge serves as the welcoming face of Visit Detroit and creates a positive first impression for all who connect with the organization. This entry-level role blends hospitality, customer service, and administrative support to ensure visitors, partners, and colleagues feel valued and connected to Detroit's story. As a brand ambassador, the Concierge provides knowledgeable assistance, maintains an organized reception area, and supports internal teams with day-to-day operations and special projects while representing Visit Detroit with professionalism, inclusivity, and enthusiasm.
LOCATION & SCHEDULE:
Full time, Non-Exempt This position requires 5 days in-office in Detroit, MI.
WHAT WE REQUIRE:
1-2 years of experience in customer service, hospitality, tourism, or administrative support. Familiarity with calendar management, scheduling, or basic administrative tasks. Associate degree in hospitality, communications, tourism, or commiserate experience. Valid, unrestricted Michigan driver's license. Valid, unrestricted Michigan driver's license (most positions).
PREFERRED:
Experience in a front-desk, concierge, visitor services, or hospitality role. Experience working in tourism, community engagement, or event support. Bachelor's degree in hospitality, communications, tourism, or related field preferred.
HOW YOU'LL CONTRIBUTE:
Serve as the primary concierge for Visit Detroit, greeting and assisting guests with warmth, professionalism, and brand-aligned enthusiasm. Deliver exceptional customer service to visitors, internal staff, and partners, ensuring seamless support across departments. Provide real-time, engaging information about metro Detroit's neighborhoods, attractions, events, dining, and cultural institutions. Answer and direct incoming calls, manage inquiries, and route messages promptly and accurately. Use technology and digital tools to assist visitors and provide information. Manage and maintain the reception area, ensuring it reflects Detroit's vibrancy, inclusivity, and Visit Detroit's brand identity. Assist with scheduling and calendar management for internal meetings and events. Support internal teams with administrative tasks, communications, and special projects. Support communication and collaboration between teams to help visitors access information and services. Support activations, community outreach, and hospitality initiatives. Assist with special assignments and projects assigned by the VP, Customer/Partner Services.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND CHARACTERISTICS:

Digital fluency with Microsoft Office Suite, Teams, and modern office technology, with the ability to quickly learn new systems and platforms. Curiosity about metro Detroit's neighborhoods, culture, and experiences, with the ability to share stories that inspire. Ability to represent Visit Detroit with professionalism and brand-aligned communication in all interactions. Reliable, detail-oriented, and adaptable with a collaborative mindset that supports smooth daily operations. Excellent communication skills including the ability to clearly express thoughts, ideas, and concepts, verbally and in writing, in the English language. Strong ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple assignments. Creative and adaptable in fast-paced environments. Builds and maintains effective relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders. Consistently demonstrates professionalism in attitude, appearance, and behavior. Effective in both remote and in-person settings; proficient with video conferencing tools. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Available to work evenings, weekends, and travel as needed.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
Office work involves extended periods of sitting or working at a desk, utilizing repetitive typing motions on a computer or laptop, and reading text on a video display monitor. Ability to perform extensive standing and/or walking for work-related assignments and events. Ability to lift push, and or carry up to 40lbs. occasionally.
